This picture is of my great grandparents (Sol & Julina) Damron, with their grown children, and many grandchildren. Far left is Uncle Joel with wife and child. All the ladies standing along the back are daughters of Solomon and Julina. They were all of the “Old Regular Baptist Church” faith and were generally against ladies cutting their hair. So the the women here had very long hair, but always wore it up in a bun of sorts. My grandmother is standing in back 3rd from right. Few people knew that she had long, blond hair down past her waist. I remember how she would take it down at night and brush it. In contrast, I notice how the little girls have their blond hair cut in a “bobbed” style, which was probably the style at the time. This picture was taken around 1922.

Love.love.love this ! Handsome “Uncle Joel” and his wife (far left.) Great-grandfather Solomon Damron with his wife Julina Coleman are front and center ! Grandmother Florence is in back. Look at all the little blond toddlers ! Wish I had ALL their names….some of those young boys have to be my uncles. Has anyone pin-pointed the exact day ? Is this in KY ? Or in WV ? It must be outside an Old Regular Baptist Church…on a Sunday…or it could be a funeral. Some solemn-looking faces here. Who had or has the original ?
