During the five months prior to the official establishment of Bourbon County in May 1786, there had been a flurry of activity by fifty or more men in the Fayette land office to make over ninety entries for land in and adjoining the Big Sandy Valley 85 Eleven years later, in May 1797, five entries from this group —and one earlier entry —were given to Ono Powell to survey on Right Beaver Creek. Members of his crew were Rizen Davis, William Daughlass and George Samples.
