In 1882 & 1883 the current Pike County Courthouse was in need of heavy repair. The act of the Kentucky State Legislature, entitled an act to authorize the Pike County Court to issue Bonds to raise money to build a Courthouse, Jail, Clerk’s Office, and other public buildings in said county. The act was approved on February 20th, 1884.

There were a total of 56 individual bonds with denominating values from $100 – $1000 paying an annual interest rate of 6%. The first bonds issued paid out in 1 year and increase up to 20 years ending with bond #56.
